A really fun thing to do with any editing program, is layers. So, how about I show you how to make a cool image with layers.

The first thing you should do is open up an image of one of your petz. I choose a really cute one of Cherry laying down.

Next, you want to make a new layer. Go to your layers box, if you have lost your layers box, hit crtl +L, and click on the new layer button. It looks like a blank document icon in the bottom left corner.



A new window will pop-up. Don't change any of the settings except to change the fill style to 'transparent'. You can give it a name. Once done with that, you can click ok.



Now you want to duplicate the layer you just made and your background image. (Petz Pictures) The dupliacte icon is the two document icons.



Then go to your layers box, delete the original background (right click on the layer and choose delete layer), and drag the "copy of background" to the top.



Grab your magic wand tool () and select the white space on your pet picture, holding down the shift button to select multiple areas. Once you have all the white selected, cut it. Edit - Cut (ctrl + x) You should see your background go checkerboarded.

Now click on your first layer in your layers box, it should turn blue. Now grab your paint bucket tool, (), and check the 'pattern fill' under fill type and select the "sky" pattern. After you have it fill your layer.



After that, change your pattern to "lightning" and click on your 2nd layer. Fill that layer. It should now look like this: Click for Picture

In the layers box, click on your 2nd layer and change the mode to "addition".



Finally, you can add some text, shade your pet, and add eye shines on your pet layer. ^^
